Sex Offender Registration and Compliance Unit

The mission of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Registration and Compliance Unit is to ensure registered sex offenders living in the unincorporated areas of Jefferson County comply with state laws mandating their duties as a registered sex offender.

Chapter 62 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure outlines the duties of registered sex offenders in regards to them making notification to law enforcement of their current status. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Registration and Compliance Unit is responsible for the registration, verification, and status change updates of registered sex offenders residing in the unincorporated areas of Jefferson County. Registered sex offenders relocating from other jurisdictions, including other states, are evaluated for their current risk level, probation status, and parole status. Superintendents of all school districts in Jefferson County are regularly provided with updated lists of all sex offenders registered with the Sheriff’s Office. The Sex Offender Registration and Compliance Unit monitors the locations of all offenders in their jurisdiction and conducts random compliance checks with the assistance of Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies.

If you have information pertaining to a registered sex offender living somewhere other than their registered address, please contact the Southeast Texas Crime Stoppers at (409) 833-TIPS , www.833tips.com or download the P3 app. You will not be asked your name and you could be eligible for a cash reward.
