Two in Custody for Burglary of China Elementary

On Monday, October 24th, 2022, Jefferson County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to China Elementary in reference to a burglary that occurred over the weekend. School faculty noticed open doors, missing items, and some minor damage to parts of the building. Upon reviewing security camera footage, two white males on bicycles were seen circling the building on Sunday evening. They then broke into the building a short time later, going through several classrooms and the cafeteria, and stealing audio equipment. With assistance from school faculty, Deputies were able to locate one of the stolen pieces of equipment near a wooded area several miles away. On Wednesday morning, October 26, 2022, Deputies located the two bicycles seen in the security camera footage and made contact with two white males, 17 year old Christopher James Standifer of China and 17 year old Lukas Allen Waller of Liberty. After meeting with Detectives, both confessed to committing the burglary. Arrest warrants were issued by Judge Ben Collins and both suspects were transported to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility. Detectives are still searching for one large PA-style speaker which may have been abandoned in the area of Henderson Avenue in China. Please contact the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office with any information regarding the whereabouts of this speaker. 409-835-8411.
