UPDATE – 07/02/2021 @ 10:20 a.m.
The deceased has been identified as 38 year old Michael Marr of Labelle, Texas. His family has been notified.
PREVIOUS RELEASE - On 07/01/2021 at 9:45 pm. Deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office located a wanted Felon near the 9000 block of Labelle Road, Beaumont, Texas.
The suspect has been the subject of a manhunt during the week due to a Sexual Assault Warrant and a Parole Violation Warrant. Deputies observed the suspect standing outside of a truck with an aluminum boat backed up to the Bayou Din Crossing (a small canal).
Deputies activated their overhead lights, exited their vehicle and began giving the suspect verbal commands. The suspect pulled a pistol and fired one round. The suspect died at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The body of the suspect will be taken to the Jefferson County morgue for an autopsy. The identity of the suspect will not be released at this time.
