In the early morning hours of Sunday, 02/02/2020, 22 year old Joshua Allen Sees was arrested by the Beaumont Police Department and booked into the Jefferson County Correctional Facility for warrants related to:
Felony Escape
Aggravated Kidnapping
Aggravated Sexual Assault
Aggravated Robbery
Sees was housed in a single cell due to his aggravated charges.
In the afternoon hours of 02/03/2020, Joshua Sees attempted to commit suicide in his cell. Sees was discovered by Corrections Officers while making their mandated rounds. Staff immediately initiated emergency procedures. Corrections officers and medical staff initiated CPR and were able to resuscitate Sees. Joshua Sees was transported to a local hospital where he remained until he passed in the afternoon of 02/05/2020.
Justice of the Peace Ben Collins was notified and an autopsy was ordered. As per Texas Commission on Jail Standards and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Policy, this incident is being investigated by the Texas Rangers. His family has been notified.
