This afternoon, 09/24/2019, just after 1:00 p.m., Deputies responded to the LNVA Canal on Moore Road near Old Sour Lake Road in reference to a body floating in the canal. A motorist had made the 911 call.
ESD1 and members of the Nacogdoches, Texas Fire Department who are assisting in the recovery of TS Imelda arrived and were able to recover the body of a female from the canal. Judge Chesson pronounced the body deceased and ordered an autopsy. Her body was transported the Jefferson County Morgue.
The female has been identified and Detectives are working on notifying next of kin. The investigation continues and the name of the deceased will be released after family has been notified. This death is not storm related.
