Increased Traffic Enforcement this Holiday

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office will be increasing patrols on roadways throughout Jefferson County starting June 29th through July 4th. Deputies will be looking for those individuals who are speeding, driving while intoxicated, driving distracted, and not wearing their seatbelts. This is made possible through the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program or STEP Grant from the Texas Department of Transportation. The Grant pays for Deputies to work extra hours focusing on these slected traffic offenses. Even though this is a year long grant, extra emphasis is given during holiday times because of increased travelers on the roadways. The Sheriff’s Office would like to remind everyone to drive safely and friendly this Holiday.
