Kilo of Cocaine seized during traffic stop

On March 8, 2018 at 3:36pm, Jefferson County Deputies Smith and Cardenas stopped the driver of a black SUV for a traffic violation eastbound on Interstate 10 at FM 365. The vehicle was occupied by two individuals who were later identified as Sean Joseph (Driver) and Latoya Williams (Passenger). During the stop, Joseph appeared overly nervous and both occupant’s stories were inconsistent, leading Deputies to believe that contraband was being concealed inside the vehicle. Deputies asked for consent to search the vehicle, which was denied by the driver. Beaumont Police K-9 officer was requested to search the outside of the vehicle. The K-9 alerted that there were possibly drugs in the vehicle. Deputies opened the vehicle and during their search located a 1-kilo block of cocaine in the glove box. Both Joseph and Williams were arrested and transported to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility where they were booked in for Possession of Controlled Substance. The local DEA office will be filling the charges for the Possession of the Cocaine in Federal Court.
