This morning, 02/14/2018 around 11:45 a.m., Deputies from the JCSO Warrant Division attempted to serve a mental health warrant at a residence in the 1900 block of Edson. The subject, a 31 year old Beaumont man, opened the door but when he saw Deputies, he grabbed a long gun and retreated into a bedroom.
Deputies were able to make voice contact through a window. The subject refused to come out, barricading himself for approximately three hours. Deputies continued to negotiate with him and at 3:00 pm. he was successfully taken into custody with no injuries sustained.
The incident tied up the neighboring streets for three hours. Regina Howell Elementary was temporarily placed on lock-down due to their close proximity to the incident however, they were never in danger.
