Two Men Charged With Burglary

This past Saturday, 02/03/2018, Deputy A. Lovett was dispatched to a residence in the 17000 block of Wilber, Hamshire, Texas in reference to a Burglary and Theft. The homeowner reported that both his home and a mobile home on his property had been burglarized. Among the items stolen were a shotgun, a handgun, a camera, purses, jewelry, a computer tablet, assorted tools and a Kawasaki Mule. A few hours later, the homeowner called to report that he had found some of his items at a residence in the 18000 block of Wilber. The owner of that home told Deputies that he had hired two men to complete some storm related repairs on his house and that he had let them borrow his white Chevy Tahoe for the day. Deputies discovered the Kawasaki Mule in the woods behind the house and all other stolen property with the exception of the shotgun and handgun, were inside the home. Additionally, another shotgun was found in the home that did not belong to the homeowner. A description of the Tahoe was put out to other Deputies and soon thereafter, Deputies Lovett, Scoggan and Sgt. Terrell stopped the vehicle. The stolen shotgun and handgun were located inside the Tahoe. The female driver along with the two male occupants were detained and brought to the Sheriff's Office for questioning. The Tahoe was released to its owner and the stolen firearms were released to the original complainant. Deputies were able to recover all of the complainants property. After taking statements from the three individuals, 31 year old Joshua Vega of Port Neches and 31 year old Jonathan Castillo of Port Arthur were booked into the Jefferson County Jail on the charge of Burglary of a Habitation. Castillo had two Aggravated Robbery Warrants out of Port Arthur. The female was released. The investigation continues and additional charges could be filed at a later date. #OneCountyOneCommunity
