Additional Charges Pending for Auto Theft Suspect

This afternoon Deputies recovered this stolen truck near an old campsite near Nome. It was reported stolen on 01/18/2018 from Horn Auction on Hwy 90 in Nome, Texas. This report came in around the same time that JCSO Deputies got into a brief chase with a stolen maroon Ford F350. The F350 was stolen from a railroad worksite West of Nome. They arrested 30 year old Alex Espinoza of Amarillo and charged him with Evading Detention with a Motor Vehicle with the possibility of additional charges to come. He also has multiple charges pending in Hardin County, Lubbock County, Swisher County, Briscoe County and Chambers County. Espinoza is the same person who ran from Chambers County Deputies and JCSO Deputies on Monday, January 15, 2018. On that date, the stolen Dodge Challenger that he was driving crashed and he fled on foot. His passenger, 34 year old Robert DeYoung of Winnie was arrested that day. Espinoza spent 3 nights hiding out in the woods during the freeze. He said that he was able to find a deer blind that had a small propane heater but that didn’t last very long. He said that he had not eaten nor drank since the chase on Monday. Lt. S. Carr gave him the weekend in jail to think about things and today, Espinoza told Lt. Carr where the stolen truck from Horn Auction was located. Deputies found the truck near an old campsite along with food that had been stolen during a Burglary at Horn Auction. The truck was driveable. Additional charges of Burglary and Auto Theft will be filed against Espinoza.
