Downtown Bomb Threat
On August 7, 2017 the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received a call from Beaumont Police Dispatch of information that there were explosive devices at the Jefferson County Courthouse, Probation and the City of Beaumont Municipal Court Building.
The Sheriff’s Office along with Beaumont Police Department and Beaumont Fire Department responded to the County Courthouse and evacuated everyone that was in the building. An explosive detection dog was called in to check the area around the County Courthouse.
At about 8:50am the “All Clear” was given and the County Courthouse reopened and resumed regular business.
These types of threats are taken very seriously and will be investigated thoroughly.
