Recording

As of September 1, 2023, the Jefferson County Clerk requires a person presenting a document in person for filing in the real property records of the county to present a photo identification to the clerk. Examples of an acceptable photo ID

  • Records documents pertaining to real property records including deeds and tax liens
  • Issues marriage licenses
  • Records Assumed Name certificates (DBAs) for new businesses
  • Issues certified copies of birth and death records recorded from 1903-1966.

The Jefferson County Clerk’s archives contain millions of pages of documents dating from 1836 to the present. Older documents are available in books and newer documents can be viewed online.

Office Location and Hours

The Recording Division is located at 1085 Pearl Street, First Floor, Beaumont, Texas 77701 (view map). Please do not use this address as the mailing address. We are open 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, except legal holidays.
