Family Violence Center
Sadie Guedry, Investigator
We make family violence cases a priority and have a criminal justice grant to try and stop this endless cycle of violence. The Family Violence Unit of the District Attorney’s Office is a specialized unit that deals primarily with domestic violence cases. We are able to give personalized attention to these cases. The victim is contacted by telephone and mail to provide referrals including the Victims Assistance Center. We have a counselor on staff and the victim can receive free counseling through the Victims' Assistance Center. When requested, our investigator will escort the victim to and from the courtroom, and provide transportation to and from the courthouse. We also work closely with the area law enforcement agencies to create a standardized response to domestic violence. We sometimes offer Violence Intervention Education Program’s as a means to resolve family violence cases if the victim so chooses. Our violence/victim assistance unit can provide additional information.
