The Jefferson County Purchasing Department is responsible for the disposition of any surplus equipment or property generated by County Departments or Agencies.
Surplus equipment or property is sold at auction to the highest bidder. Items are sold at Horn Auctions in Nome, Texas. These auctions are held on the first Saturday of each month. Jefferson County reserves the right to participate in these auctions on an as-needed basis.
Horn Auctions maintains a web page with pictures of heavy equipment being sold at auction. Usual offerings are computer equipment, office furnishings, heavy equipment, vehicles, and tools. Prior to the sale, Jefferson County posts a list including most items available for auction.
Surplus equipment and property sold at auction is in "as-is" condition. No warranties or guarantees apply.
